Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take insurance?
Yes! Through our collaboration with Lotus Doula Tribe, we are able to bill many different insurance plans. We can also provide a super bill for reimbursement if you are paying out of pocket.
What are the benefits of working with a Doula?
Studies show that Postpartum and Birth Doulas can benefit the long-term health of both mother and baby. Working with a Doula can lower your chances of needing interventions and C-section during birth. Even the World Health Organization (WHO) states that "every birthing person globally should have access to a Doula." Research shows that having Doula support leads to a more satisfying and positive experience.
Is a Doula the same as a Midwife?
Doulas provide physical, emotional, and informational support while a Midwife is a licensed healthcare provider. During labor, Doulas can assist with pain management and help advocate for the birthing person, while Midwives oversee the health and safety of mother and baby.
I'm getting an epidural. How can you help me?
An epidural is an important tool during some births. We can help you manage the side effects and other interventions that may become necessary with its use, as well as help maintain Optimal Fetal Positioning during labor.
How many appointments will we have together?
The better your Doula gets to know you, the more you gain from their support. For Birth Doula services, we like to have at least four prenatal visits. This may also depend on your location and when you begin working together. For Postpartum or Sibling Doula services, this will depend on the package you choose.
I need to sleep! Do you provide overnight care for my newborn?
Yes, through our partnership with local providers, we can help match you with a the right support to get you that much needed rest to help aid in your recovery.
